"I started weight training in 2001 as a result of lacking power in my combatives training. This led me to experiment with many of the fad programs that thrive in the current fitness industry. However, I always felt like something was missing in my in weight training, and I noticed quickly that my gains in the gym were not transferring to my combatives training.

In 2005 I was introduced to the philosophy of functional strength training and conditioning, yet I still did not have a clear understanding of it. After becoming a Certified Personal Trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine in 2007, and gaining experience working at the YMCA, I stumbled upon CrossFit. At first I didn't understand the way the program worked. However, because of my personality and life experiences, I immediately saw the value/utility of CrossFit training.

In September 2007 I converted to functional strength & conditioning for the basis of my personal training, and to CrossFit in specific. My "athletes" and I feel better, faster, and stronger than we ever have since starting CrossFit training. We will never return to the mundane, monotonous ways of bodybuilding, or the "GloboGym" model of fitness!
